Slipping into the respective other role means mastering your own role even better and improving and expanding your dance skills.

Couple dance is a communication between two dancers. To have a real dialogue one has to understand each other's language. The language in dancing is called “leading and following”.

Leading means showing the way through impulses and body expression, following means receiving impulses and implementing them correctly with your own body. Both partners act and react constantly to one another.

That means:

"If you want to lead well, you also have to know and be able to follow!"

"If you want to follow well, you also have to know and be able to lead!"
